Longnewton

Longnewton (also known as Long Newton) is a village and civil parish in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and ceremonial county of County Durham, England.

It is situated between Darlington and Stockton-on-Tees. The village is mostly privately owned dwellings, and has two public houses, The Londonderry Arms and The Vane Arms, St. Mary's church, a primary school and a traditional village green.

Longnewton is a few minutes drive north of Durham Tees Valley Airport. Longnewton is in the catchment area for Egglescliffe Secondary School.

Longnewton also has a community centre with regular events and activities.

In late 2007 a new bypass and junction of the village was created after almost 30 years of proposals. The new junction incorporates a raised bridge over the local A66 trunk road and a new link road to the nearby village of Elton. Also a new roundabout has been put in place to service Durham Tees Valley Airport and ease traffic levels.
